After graduating from the Bartlett School of Architecture, I decided to take a bit of a breather to figure out what I really wanted to draw and sketch. I’ve been focusing a lot on full-body anatomy and getting better at drawing people in different positions. A few friends and I even started our own little drawing club where we head to the Victoria & Albert Museum and spend an hour sketching statues as a fun challenge. On top of that, after going to some amazing Barbican Film events through the ‘Artists in Residence’ programme, I got really inspired to start sketching my own neighbourhood in Shoreditch. I loved seeing how artists used old warehouses in East London decades ago, and how access to those spaces has changed over time with gentrification and the housing crisis.

One of my favourite sketches so far is of a statue of a woman with a folding dress. Shading all those folds in such a short time was tricky but so satisfying. It really showed me how much these weekly drawing sessions have helped me loosen up and work more confidently.
